Maudit! (2019)

The island of Reunion has known slavery and indentureship for centuries. „Maudit“ („Cursed“) is the allegorical account of the repression of this history, the blurred, drunken, violent and complex song of diversity challenged by the weight of the past. The character of Alix, whom we follow throughout MAUDIT! extends this story of blood and death: he too is destabilized by his demons. The ghosts he sees are maroons, the slaves who fled into the mountains. He too goes deep into the mountain, looking for his friend Marcellin, whom he fears has been injured by rum, and perhaps even killed, unless it is Dorothée, his „subway“ friend…
