Filminhalt

BINTI („daughter“, „young woman“) is the last film by Tanzanian filmmaker Seko Shamte. It tells the story of four women with very different careers, aspirations and social backgrounds in Dar es Salaam – and also from their different perspectives, which are slowly interwoven in the film. Featuring Seko Shamte, who has made a name for herself internationally as a filmmaker, and produced by sisters Angela and Ailinda Ruhinda, it is one of the few films that not only presents a kaleidoscope of women’s lives in East Africa, but was also made by women alone.
